Are there any restrictions I need to know about?

Yes, there are a few important considerations. As a registered clinical social worker, I can only provide therapy to clients who are physically located in the five provinces where I’m licensed: Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. You’ll also need:

A private space where you feel safe and comfortable.

A reliable internet connection.

A device with a camera and microphone.

For safety reasons, sessions must be conducted in a safe and stable environment. You cannot be in a vehicle, or in a public setting at any time during the session.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
What happens if my telehealth connection is lost in the middle of a session?

Tech happens! During our first session, we’ll create a plan to address technology issues. Generally, I will connect with you via phone right away to ensure we stay connected, then troubleshooting any technical problems together. You will never be left hanging in the middle of a session.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
What provinces do I need to by physically located in to see Kristy?

I’m licensed in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Nova Scotia and therefore you will need to be physically located in one of these provinces for the duration of our session.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
How often do I need to meet with a therapist?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer. The frequency of sessions should fit your life. In your first session, we’ll explore what works best for you based on your therapy goals, life commitments, and finances.

I recognize that time, energy, and resources are limited for all clients, so session frequency can remain flexible to meet your evolving needs.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
What can I expect from a first session with Kristy?

I focus on creating a safe, supportive space centered on you. My practice is rooted in trauma-informed care, which considers your body, mind, emotions, and nervous system responses to stress. I integrate evidence-based trauma and grief therapies to help you feel understood and empowered at a pace that fits where you are right now.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
What if I feel our work together isn’t the right fit anymore? Or what if I need a different therapist or approach?

It’s completely normal for therapeutic needs to evolve, and I want you to feel comfortable discussing this with me at any time. We have a few options: we can explore adjusting my approach to better match your current needs and goals, or I can help connect you with another therapist whose specialty or modality might be a better fit. I’m connected with a variety of excellent therapists, and I’m happy to facilitate a smooth, supportive transition if that’s what would serve you best.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
How far ahead should I book appointments?

I recommend booking sessions 3–4 months in advance whenever possible. This ensures access to time slots that work best in your schedule and allows us to structure each session with consideration for the spacing between appointments.

Advanced booking also allows for free cancellations up to 24 hours prior to your session.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
I’ve tried therapy in the past and it didn’t work. Why should I try again with Kristy?

This is more common than people realize. Sometimes it’s about finding the right fit or trying a different approach. My style is gentle, collaborative, and client led, there are no cookie-cutter plans here. We go at your pace and adjust as needed so you feel supported through the entire process to not replicate what did not work last time for you.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
Is Kristy a 2SLGBTQI+ affirming practice?

Absoluately! I strive to be an ally in all aspects of my practice. Everyone is welcome here.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
How does Kristy adapt therapy for those living with chronic illness?

Living with chronic health challenges can create limits you wouldn’t choose. In our work together, I honor your energy, pacing, and specific needs. This may include thoughtful scheduling, regular check-ins to manage fatigue or pain, and practical adjustments to sessions. You don’t need to justify your symptoms in this space. I work with your reality, not against it.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
Can Kristy adapt therapy for neurodivergent clients?

Absolutely! I adapt my approach to fit you. Together, we’ll determine what works best to meet your therapy goals while honoring how your brain works on any given day.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
Does trauma-informed therapy mean I have to talk about all the deep, dark details of my trauma?

Not at all! We move at your pace. The first focus is always building trust, safety, and emotional regulation. This often includes learning coping strategies before exploring deeper trauma. You will never do a deep dive into anything you are not prepared to explore. You are always in control of what, when, and how you share in this space.

Most trauma therapy modalities I use work somatically, focusing on the body’s responses and nervous system rather than requiring detailed narratives of traumatic events. Since trauma lives in the body, we can work directly with physical sensations, tension patterns, and nervous system regulation to promote healing. This means you can benefit from trauma therapy without having to repeatedly relive or describe painful details.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
What do clients say they value most about working with you?

Clients often tell me they feel truly seen, understood, and less alone. They appreciate practical suggestions and my approach, which combines a strong foundation in the neurobiology of trauma with a compassionate, soft space to land.

</details>

["post-27","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
